Mary Beale School of Needlework
Whenever the study of history is mentioned, usually what is pictured in this painting comes to mind: books, maps, and written documents. In our modern age, historic pictures and films have been added to the list. How many people do you think would include needlework as part of history? Would needlework stitched by young girls be considered important historically? I think the answer would be a definite "no" by some people! On the following pages I will take you on a journey through time, 900 years to be exact. We won't be using books, maps, or other documents, but needlework! You will see how valuable it is to historians, sociologists, collectors, etc. and begin to understand what an important part of history it is. On the last page you can begin to make history too by joining The Mary Beale School of Needlework and reviving the lost art of classic needlework for young girls.
